Chairman,  Department of Radiation Oncology

David S. Parda is chairman of the Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) Department of Radiation Oncology, where he is integrating a network of nine radiation oncology clinics in Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio with state-of-the-art technology to optimize standards of care and developmental capabilities. He has developed one of the nation’s most comprehensive radiation oncology centers at AGH with capabilities that are on par with the most sophisticated academic radiation oncology practices.

Dr. Parda received his bachelor of arts degree with honors in molecular biology and psychology from Vanderbilt University and his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and a residency in radiation oncology at Georgetown University. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Radiation Oncology.

Through special training at the National Cancer Institute Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Biology, Georgetown University’s Lombardi Cancer Center, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Dr. Parda has acquired noted expertise in molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis and radiation response and in brachytherapy, intraoperative radiation, three dimensional conformal radiation therapy and intensity modulated radiation therapy. His special interests include multidisciplinary treatment of cancer with emphasis on breast cancer, colorectal cancer, head and neck cancer including eye and orbit, clinical research/outcomes analysis, medical education, and electronic integration of an advanced radiation oncology program and network. Dr. Parda has held appointments as an assistant professor of radiation oncology at Georgetown University, MCP Hahnemann University School of Medicine, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine as well as the appointment of Professor of Radiation Oncology from Drexel University College of Medicine. He is also the radiation oncology residency program director at AGH.
