As a service to patients' families who do not
live nearby, the Allegheny Center for Lung and Thoracic Disease offers
accommodations at the Allegheny General Hospital Visitor Center,
located within a few blocks of the hospital. Rooms in the Visitor
Center are available on a first-come, first-served basis at a
reasonable nightly rate. For more information, call the Visitor Center
office at (412) 359-1200 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The Visitor Center provides a home-away-from-home for patients
receiving care at the Allegheny Center for Lung and Thoracic Disease, and their families.
Allegheny General Hospital is a 728-bed academic health center serving Pittsburgh
and the surrounding five-state area. Offering a wide array of medical
and surgical services, the hospital is recognized for its expertise in
cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, diagnostic radiology,
gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery,
obstetrics/gynecology, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery,
pediatrics, psychiatry, pulmonary medicine and transplant surgery. Allegheny General also is designated as a Regional Resource (Level I)
Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatric trauma.
Allegheny Neuropsychiatric Institute, a program of and located at the
hospital, offers comprehensive care to those with a central nervous
system disorder and a resulting behavioral disorder. Allegheny General
is the Allegheny Campus of the Philadelphia-based Medical
College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University; third- and
fourth-year medical students receive clinical training at the hospital.
Scientists at Allegheny-Singer Research Institute, a component of Allegheny General, conduct studies in 14 major disciplines and
clinical research in several subspecialties. Located in the North Side
section of Pittsburgh, Allegheny General annually admits more
than 29,000 patients and logs more than 450,000 outpatient visits.
More than 850 physicians and 4,000 employees share the hospital's
commitment to excellence in patient care, medical education and
research.
